He approached us on Wacker Drive, east of Michigan Avenue, with a train schedule in his hand as he pushed his walker. Walter McKinley was looking for train fare to return to Joliet. Walter was in the city for some medical reasons and was trying to get back home. I told him about the $2 Portrait project and he agreed to let me photograph him.<br><br>Walter is 65 years old and a Vietnam veteran who served two tours of duty. He showed me his Department of Veterans Affairs ID card, which looked remarkably familiar to those I&#39;ve seen in San Francisco.<br><br>I gave him $2, as did my wife, and we shook hands.
