After dinner with some colleagues, I was walking down Powell <br>Street before heading to my car. He approached me asking for some money. I told him about the $2 Portrait project and he readily agreed to participate.<br><br>Navin is 55 years old and suffers from schizophrenia, saying he often hears voices in his head. He is orginally from Zambia, Africa where his parents had emigrated from India. Navin came to the US in 1976 and has been in San Francisco for 8 years. He used to work in a family construction business before becoming disabled. <br><br>We chatted a while longer with Navin telling me about some bars and restaurants in San Francisco.
